☀️ Welcome to my Summer Playground Series! 🛝
All summer long, I’ll be sharing some of our family’s favorite playground destinations within an easy drive of Boston—because sometimes the best adventures are the simplest ones.
This week’s featured spot is Carlisle Castle Playground, and it’s truly one of the most magical playgrounds we’ve found.
📍 Less than 40 minutes from Boston
🏰 Giant castle-themed play structure
✨ Towers, bridges, climbing areas, musical instruments, huge slides, and a zip line
🚗 Large parking lot
🧺 Shady picnic tables if you want to pack lunch
Then head just a few minutes down the road to Kimball Farm in Carlisle for homemade ice cream. Their outdoor space is perfect for families, with:
🍦 Huge scoops of delicious ice cream
🌳 Shaded picnic tables
🎲 Lawn games
🐐 Friendly farm animals
🚻 Porta-potties
✨ Save this post for your summer bucket list! And be sure to follow @MappedByMegan because I’ll be sharing a new favorite playground destination near Boston throughout the summer. Which playground should I feature next?

A ski trip with three kids under four (and a dog) that actually felt like a vacation 🤯
Sugarbush made this possible: daycare for the littles, ski school for our 3-year-old, a dog-friendly slopeside hotel, and actual time for us to ski together. Sharing highlights from last season’s trip and even more tips for planning a family ski trip to Sugarbush on the blog!

April showers are bringing the flowers! 🌸 Now is the time to see spring flowers in Boston. Cherry blossoms along the Charles River Esplanade are in full bloom and magnolias along Commonwealth Avenue are just opening up. The tulips in the Public Garden should be sprouting in the coming weeks. Where have you spotted spring blooms so far?

I make it a point to stop by Dog Mountain every time I’m in the area or passing through. This incredible vision by the late artist @stephenhuneck is such a special place and must visit for dog owners and lovers.
Spanning 150 mountaintop acres in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, this one of a kind dog friendly destination encompasses hiking trails, a Dog Chapel, art gallery and more. It’s a place where dogs are not just welcomed, they are cherished.

This year’s outdoor ice skating season in New England has been one for the books! These have been a few of my family’s favorite spots to skate. What are yours?
⛸️ Skating on the @frogpondboston in the Boston Common with the backdrop of the cityscape is a must for visitors and locals alike.
❄️ @lakemoreyresort in Fairlee, VT has one of the longest ice skating trails in the country with panoramic views of the Vermont countryside.
🐴 @nestlenookfarmnh in Jackson, NH offers ice skating and horse drawn sleigh rides in an iconic New England setting.
🏒 @skatiumvt in Vermont’s Mad River Valley offers open skate and stick and puck in a low-key, welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community.

If there’s one thing I want you to take away from this reel, it’s that I made that cornhole shot on my first try 🙌 #stillgotit
Apple picking with the whole fam is my favorite fall tradition 🍎 and @applecrestfarm in Hampton Falls, NH is so family and dog friendly! Roscoe even got to join us on the wagon ride and lunch at the cafe. Fall frolicking is off to a great start ✅
