Looking for a seaside destination without the crowds? Duxbury, MA is the perfect summer day trip within an hour’s drive from Boston. Often overlooked in favor of more popular Massachusetts locales like Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket, this quintessential coastal charmer is the South Shore’s best-kept secret.
So what are you waiting for? Pack your beach tote and get ready to experience this authentic, New England summer getaway.

Start your day with a decadent brunch at The Oysterman, offering modern twists on local favorites and an extensive brunch cocktail menu. Wash down an Oystergirl breakfast sammy with a Deluxe-bury Crush and you’ll be ready to “seas” the day.

One of my favorite things to do in Duxbury is to go for a drive. Enjoy picturesque scenes of New England passing by your window and dream of someday owning one of the quaint, historic homes dotting the neighborhood.

Eventually, all roads lead to Duxbury Beach. Pick up your day pass at Blakeman’s before heading out to this six mile stretch of sand via Powder Point Bridge, one of the world’s longest and oldest wooden bridges. Go for a stroll along the calm waters of the bay side searching for clams or watch the waves rolling in on the ocean side.

Duxbury biggest draw? It’s oysters of course! Head to The Raw Bar at Island Creek Oyster Farm to experience the best of Duxbury. Opt to do a boat tour of the oyster farm and end your day on the scenic waterfront patio, complete with bocce court, corn hole, and tether ball. Savor the salt air while sipping bubbly and knocking back freshly shucked oysters. Bonus: it’s kid and dog friendly!
