Are you and your pup in search of the perfect place to hang out together? Discover some of the most dog friendly breweries in New England!
Breweries are some of my favorite spots to visit with my dog Roscoe, especially when we’re on a New England road trip together. New England is known for its craft beer scene, and I know that no matter where I travel, I’m likely to find a tap room or beer garden that allows dogs. From lapping up dog beer to learning about fur-mentation, join us as we check out some of the best dog friendly breweries in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
Dog Friendly Breweries in Massachusetts
Bad Martha Farmers Brewery, Edgartown
Bad Martha Farmers Brewery in Martha’s Vineyard doesn’t just have an origin story but a legend. A shipwrecked English sailor scoured the island for ingredients to brew beer for his crew. A mischievous mermaid lured him to a field of lush island grapes, which to this day form the secret ingredient behind Bad Martha brews. This playful place encourages you to embrace vacation vibes and maybe even be a little bad. Easily bikeable from either Oak Bluffs or Edgartown, a garden oasis awaits where you can soak up the island sunshine and lose track of time with your dog.

BearMoose Brewing, Everett
A local favorite, BearMoose Brewing boasts a dog-friendly taproom and outdoor patio. Located in an old machine shop in Everett, this no frills, low key space offers plenty of seating and even pinball machines. Friendly and knowledgable staff love to talk about the rotating list of beers on tap. There’s no food available on site, but you are welcome to bring your own outside food with you.
Break Rock Brewing, Quincy
It’s hard to believe, but Break Rock Brewing is Quincy’s only brewery. As such, its connection to the community is strong. They pay homage to each Quincy neighborhood with a custom beer and label art with a portion of proceeds benefitting hyper-local charities. This waterfront brewery and taproom located in Quincy’s Marina Bay is the best place to be on a nice day. Especially since dogs are allowed both inside the taproom and out on the boardwalk patio overlooking the harbor.
Bone Up Brewing Company, Everett
Bone Up Brewing Co in Everett is a place that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Its simple mantra is “made from ingredients.” The husband and wife duo behind the operation believe that beer should be uncomplicated and enjoyed with friends, and that includes those of the four-legged variety. The friendly staff will welcome you to the spacious, dog-friendly patio and take the time to learn both you and your dog’s name. Here you can enjoy a relaxed vibe as you make your way through the rotating menu of bone-dry brews and unique varieties like Key Lime White.

Castle Island Brewing Company, South Boston
Boston beer lovers, rejoice! The popular Castle Island Brewing Company in Norwood has opened a taproom at South Boston’s happening, new Ironworks development. And thanks to a new policy that allows Boston restaurants to be more dog friendly, leased dogs are now welcome on the brewery’s outdoor patio seasonally. This one is right in my neighborhood, and I have yet to try a beer on their extensive rotating selection that I haven’t loved. Plus, they offer tasty eats from Bardo’s pizza.

Cisco Brewers, Nantucket
Cisco Brewers now has pop-up locations all over New England. But its flagship location in Nantucket is well worth a visit with your pup. With live music, food trucks, and a bustling social scene, Cisco is the go-to daytime drinking spot on the island. For that reason, it gets very busy on the weekends. So make sure your dog is comfortable around crowds and loud noises. If you don’t want to drive, you can either bike there or catch their free shuttle from downtown.

Far from the Tree Cider, Salem
Far from the Tree Cider welcomes furry friends to their outdoor patio in Salem, MA. Cider, of course, is the name of the game here. Spend a sunny afternoon sampling creative flavor combinations and various seasonal offerings.

Great Marsh Brewing Company, Essex
On a warm summer day, there’s no better place to be than the Great Marsh Brewing Company‘s waterfront location in Essex. Dogs are allowed only in the outdoor beer garden. But with sweeping views of the Great Marsh, this is where you want to snag a spot anyway. Afterwards, you and your dog can explore the salt marshes at nearby Allyn Cox Reservation.
Lost Shoe Brewing and Roasting Company, Marlborough
Located in downtown Marlborough, Lost Shoe Brewing and Roasting Company pays tribute to its hometown’s history as a hub for shoe manufacturing. The founders, a husband and wife team, wanted to provide a comfortable community space that combines both their crafts: coffee and beer. This allows for fun flavor experiments, like hops and malts incorporated into coffee drinks. But the most interesting thing on the menu? The dog beer! Roscoe was excited to finally be able to participate in all the fun with this chicken broth brew. (Don’t worry, he’s 21 in dog years).

Night Shift Brewing, Everett
Night Shift Brewing‘s Everett flagship just 15 minutes outside of Boston is dog friendly. Dogs must be kept on leash and are not permitted indoors. But the spacious outdoor patio with lawn games, food trucks, and ample seating is more fun anyway. Their extensive menu offers something for every type of drinker, with hard seltzers, ciders, wine, and coffee alongside their signature craft beers. Look out for their weekly Paws & Pints event, where you can enjoy a pint with your pup or maybe even give a new four-legged friend a forever home.
Notch Brewery & Tap Room, Salem
Located in Salem, Notch Brewery & Tap Room was the first U.S. brewery to specialize in Session beer. The tap room features rotating brews on tap, including a variety of American style lagers, British pale ales, and Czech Republic classics. Located on the scenic banks of the South River, the spacious outdoor biergarten is open year round (rain or shine) and welcomes well-behaved, leashed dogs. You and your pup can watch the tide come and go and maybe even catch a view of a harbor seal.

Oakholm Brewing Company, Brookfield
This dog friendly find is high up on my list of favorites. Oakholm Brewing Company is situated on Oakholm Farm’s idyllic estate in Brookfield, MA. Dogs are allowed both inside their tap room housed in a beautifully renovated historic barn and outside in their expansive beer garden. You can post up at one of the picnic tables that encircle a roaring bonfire and watch kids run carefree through the nearby hills and fields.
The farm offers a robust calendar of events year round, from cut-your-own Christmas trees and horse drawn sleigh rides in the winter to picnics and pick-your-own berries in the summer. You’ll even find unique events like dog mushing lessons! Our family had so much fun visiting for an Easter egg hunt. Our toddler frolicked through the fields in search of eggs while Roscoe followed close behind in pursuit of bunnies. No matter when you visit, you’ll always be able to enjoy good beer, food trucks, live music, and local vendors.

Provincetown Brewing Company, Provincetown
The people at Provincetown Brewing Company care about their community, and that includes dogs too. They’ve coined the term “draftism” as a way of pairing craft beer with giving back. So you can enjoy brews like “Love Conquers Ale” and “Power to the Pilsner” even more knowing that 15% of all profits are donated to causes like LGBTQ+ inclusion and environmental conservation. Even their mascot Brewski, a boxer-pitbull rescue, pitches in. The sign outside his doghouse in the beer garden reads “I bite racists.”

Tree House Brewing Company, Charlton
The wildly popular Tree House Brewing Company doesn’t distribute, so the only way to experience its flavor-packed IPAs is by making the trek to Charlton, MA. Expect big crowds especially on the weekends, but there’s plenty of space both indoors and out where you and your dog are welcome. You can take a case (or twenty) home with you and check out nearby hiking trails at Capen Hill Nature Sanctuary while you’re in the area.

Trillium Brewing Company, Boston
The outdoor spaces at Trillium Brewing Company throughout the city of Boston are dog friendly. Enjoy a draft pour and a rotating selection of food trucks with your dog at the seasonal beer gardens on the Rose Kennedy Greenway or the Boston Common. Dogs are also welcome on the patios of their Seaport and Fenway locations. In fact, their flagship location in Canton is the only that doesn’t allow dogs due to the city’s licensing and zoning regulations.
Dog Friendly Breweries in Vermont
The Alchemist Brewery, Stowe
No beer lover’s trip to Vermont is complete without a visit to The Alchemist. Dogs are no longer allowed inside the tap room, but there is seasonal, pet friendly seating outside in their beer garden. Don’t leave without sampling and stocking up on their signature Heady Topper, one of the most sought-after and rewarded craft beers in the world.

Foam Brewers, Burlington
Located in bustling Burlington on the shores of Lake Champlain, Foam Brewers allows dogs on their outdoor patio. Work up an appetite beforehand by biking or strolling along Colchester Causeway. This three-mile recreational path offers 360 degree views of the water and rolling mountains. Then wash down a mouthwatering cheese board with one of their sudsy seasonal ales or homemade kombucha.

Idletyme Brewing Co, Stowe
Idletyme Brewing Company’s dog friendly deck with fire pits, comfy seating, and a bar built around a tree is the perfect place to unwind after a long day of exploring in Stowe. When you pull off the adjacent Stowe Recreation Path, friendly staff will welcome you and your pup with treats and a water bowl. Enjoy a full menu and a wide selection of local beers on tap.

Long Trail Brewing Company, Woodstock
Long Trail Brewing Company is located on the banks of the Ottauquechee River near Woodstock. Named for the 273-mile hiking trail that winds through the Green Mountains of Vermont, it’s the perfect spot to rest sore paws after a day of adventures with your pup. Although dogs aren’t allowed in the upper deck or dining room due to Vermont regulations, they are permitted in a separate lower patio area.
Rock Art Brewery, Morristown
Located just down the road from the popular ski resort in Stowe, Rock Art Brewery sees a lot of people pass through for an apres pint after a fun day hitting the slopes. A unique combination tasting room and art gallery, you can sip beer while perusing incredible work from local artists. It’s a true family-run operation, with husband and wife, their two sons, and even their own doggo, who loves hanging out near the entrance to welcome new friends. Leashed dogs are very welcome to join you while you have a beer on the porch or inside the downstairs area.
Stowe Cider, Stowe
Make your way down the Stowe Recreation Path and you’ll stumble upon Stowe Cider. Most people flock to Vermont for its craft beer scene. But these crisp, fresh-pressed hard ciders made from local fruits are not to be overlooked. Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the outdoor cider garden.
Von Trapp Brewing, Stowe
Yes, we’re talking about those Von Trapps. After escaping Nazi-occupied Austria, the Von Trapp family settled in Stowe, Vermont, whose mountainous terrain reminded them of home. Johannes, the youngest son of Maria and the Baron, dreamed of bring crisp Austrian-style lagers to New England, and in 2010 Von Trapp Brewing was born. Dogs are allowed on the outdoor biergarten, where picnic tables overlook idyllic rolling hills and lush landscapes that will make you feel like singing.

Dog Friendly Breweries in Maine
Atlantic Brewing Company, Bar Harbor
Atlantic Brewing Company is the perfect place to stop after hitting the trails of Acadia National Park with your dog. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor patio of the Town Hill location, minutes from downtown Bar Harbor. This family-owned flagship is built on a ten acre 19th century Maine farm. Here you can fill your belly with onsite offerings from Mainely Meat BBQ and wash it down with local flavors like Blueberry Ale. The tasting room is open seasonally, late May through mid October.

Bateau Brewing, Gardiner
If you find yourself passing through the small town of Gardiner, you absolutely must stop by Bateau Brewing. It’s located right across from the beautiful historic Gardiner Public Library. You won’t find the crowds of tourists that the bigger Maine breweries draw, but that’s exactly its charm. Dogs are welcome to join you outside on the patio. Here you can kick back into a comfortable Adirondack chair and enjoy beautiful views of the Kennebec River.

Maine Beer Co, Freeport
Order “Lunch” at Maine Beer Company and you won’t get served any food, but you will be in for a treat. Two brothers inspired by the motto “Do what’s right” founded the operation in 2009. It has since skyrocketed as one of the most popular breweries in New England. Fido can join you at one of the many pet-friendly tables on the outdoor patio.

Norway Brewing Company, Norway
Norway Brewing Company is a family-owned microbrewery right off of Route 26 in Maine. In warmer months, you can sip brews with a focus son locally grown ingredients in the spacious beer garden with your dog. The Little Bear Farmhouse Ale, with hints of wild Maine blueberries, was my favorite.
Rising Tide Brewing, Portland
“A rising tide lifts all boats” is the guiding philosophy of Rising Tide Brewing Company. This independent, family-owned brewery in Portland’s vibrant East Bayside neighborhood is one of my favorite spots to visit with my dog. The husband and wife team behind the operation are a true power couple. Nathan pursued his passion to grow the business from a one-man production to a 30-person team. And Heather, a former attorney who worked to change the Maine law to allow public tasting rooms, now serves as a State Senator.

Dog Friendly Breweries in New Hampshire
603 Brewery & Beer Hall, Londonderry
Live Free. Drink 603. That’s the attitude that prevails at 603 Brewery & Beer Hall in Londonderry, New Hampshire. Founded by three college friends in 2012, it has since grown to one of the top five craft beer producers in the state. Leashed dogs are allowed on the sprawling outdoor patio with its own bar, plenty of seating, and fire pits.

Canterbury Aleworks, Canterbury
“A little out of the way, a lot out of the ordinary.” Canterbury Aleworks is a hidden gem well worth a detour to this rural New Hampshire town. As you pull up to the rustic chalet with a red telephone booth out front, you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped back in time and overseas to old world Europe. Believe it or not, this water-powered and wood-fired, British inspired nano-brewery is a one-man operation. It’s definitely the most unique destination on my list. And of course, friendly dogs are always welcome.

One Love Brewery, Lincoln
There’s so much to love about One Love Brewery. Its location in downtown Lincoln makes it the perfect spot to visit after a day in the White Mountains. Its extensive menu offers more than your average pub spread, with delectable selections like One Love Onion Soup made with the brewery’s own porter. And what’s more to love, friendly dogs are welcome to join you on the outdoor patio.
To Share Brewing Company, Manchester
To Share Brewing Company is Manchester’s neighborhood brewery. Husband and wife Aaron and Jeni Share (and their brewery dog Blue) wanted to create a place for their community to come together over a shared love of craft beer. They regularly host with events like bingo, yoga, live music… even weddings! If you find yourself in town, stop by to sample a beer flight on their dog-friendly outdoor patio.

Twin Barns Brewing Co, Meredith
Located near the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee, Twin Barns Brewing Co is housed in a 1850s antique barn (or actually two barns joined together, hence the name). It’s situated on 7 acres of land, which includes a seasonal beer garden that’s dog friendly. You’ll feel like you’re hanging out in a friend’s backyard, where you can linger as long you’d like over a cold beer.
I try to keep this article as up to date as possible, but always recommend calling ahead before visiting to confirm policies. If you know of other dog-friendly breweries in New England not on this list, drop a suggestion in the comments!

The ultimate spot for dog owners/lovers is Funky Bow Brewery in Lyman,Maine. A privately owned organic farm where dogs are allowed to run off leash and are welcome indoors as well, in their large greenhouse with delicious pizza,(try the mashed potato and bacon!), and live music every Friday night thru Sunday. Also, a disc golf course and special events in the warmer weather.
That sounds like such a unique and incredible spot! I can’t wait to check it out – thank you for the suggestion!
Hi! Thank you for this list – so much to explore! Have you been to Trillium in Canton recently? Last we knew, and still reflected on their website, they do not allow dogs at this location. However, one tip is that as of 2022, their seasonal beer garden at the Rose Kennedy Greenway in Boston does allow dogs again after a hiatus!
Oh no! I haven’t been recently so didn’t realize they no longer allow dogs in Canton. But that’s great news that the beer garden on the Greenway is dog friendly! I’ve been but not with my dog before, so will check it out soon. Thanks so much for the latest tip, updating the article accordingly!
